ACI Masonry Laboratory Testing Technician Certification Exam
Important: ALL Examinees must use all PPE when taking their performance exam. PPE includes the following:
- Gloves, eye protection, appropriate work shoes, or other PPE as your employer may require.
- Arrive at your scheduled time slot; do not come early. Based on the pace of others, your time slot is approximate.
Please come prepared to pass and to participate safely in a group setting.
Certification Requirements:
ACI will grant certification only to those applicants who meet both of the following requirements:
- A passing grade on the ACI written examination; AND
- Successful completion of the ACI performance examination.
The one-and-a-half-hour written examination is open-book and consists of approximately 70 multiple-choice questions. There are between 8 and 12 questions on each of the ASTM test methods and practices. To pass the written examination, BOTH of the following conditions must be met:
- At least 60% correct for each of the required test methods and practices, AND
- A minimum score of 70% overall.
The performance examination is closed-book and requires actual demonstration of select field procedures described in ASTM test methods C140/C140M, C780, C1019, and C1552. The examinee is judged on his/her ability to correctly perform (or describe, where allowed) the required steps for each procedure.
Certification is valid for five years from the date of completing all requirements.
Recertification requires successful completion of both the written and performance examinations.
STUDY MATERIALS
WACA will mail the ACI study guide once payment is received. The examinee may use a standard calculator. Cell phone calculators are NOT allowed.

Please bring a proper photo ID to the exam.
Changes to the Registration Policy
Once a registration is received, Options:
- Find a substitute to fill your spot(s).
- There is a 48-hour cancellation window after registration. A full refund, less a $35 CC processing fee, will be applied.
- After 48 hours, you can select a credit extended to the next scheduled same or different session, minus the cost of the study guide @$95 - $150 plus shipping charges.
- After WACA has mailed study guides, a credit only will be extended to the next scheduled class.
- No Shows will not be refunded or carried over to the next exam date.
